Rosenwald School – Architecture Models

Wittig, creates these Rosenwald School Models to provide a tangible representation of schools designed and built by a team called together by Julius Rosenwald and Booker T. Washington. These schools would become known as Rosenwald Schools and were built in fifth-teen southern states from 1928 to 1948. Wittig based this group of models on the architectural information contained within the 1924 Community School Plans Bulletin No. 3. This bulletin was issued by The Julius Rosenwald Fund, and at the time was based in Nashville, Tennessee. These plans became known as the Nashville Plans. Wittig uses CAD software, a laser cutter, and hand woodworking tools to bring these historic school buildings to life.
